First Impressions: Rustic Charm & BBQ Dreams
As two rescue-cat-loving hoomans on a mission to highlight the best eats across Berks County, we knew Stampede BBQ had to be our next stop. And from the second we saw the big red barn nestled in Mohnton, PA, we could already smell the smoked brisket dreams.

What We Ordered (and Devoured)
A hearty barbecue tray featuring sliced brisket, pulled pork, a slice of white bread, golden French fries, baked beans, and a cup of barbecue sauce.
We split the 3-meat platter featuring:
Brisket – insanely tender, perfectly smoked
Pulled Pork – juicy, lightly seasoned, not greasy
Turkey – shockingly flavorful and moist
We added fries, baked beans, and cornbread, and yes—we nearly rolled home.
Every bite hit like comfort food cooked with love. Bonus: the slice of soft white bread and real butter? Total nostalgia.
Drinks: Wood-Fired Ale + Cherry Cola Heaven

Stampede is the only wood-fired brewery in Pennsylvania—and they mean it. No gas, no electric. Just real fire, historic brewing methods, and grain-forward flavor.
We tried:
A flight of rich, malty ales
A cherry cola + classic cola blend that gave old-school soda shop vibes
Everything was flavorful, affordable, and brewed or bottled with intention.
Atmosphere & Experience: Family-Friendly + Warm Service
A cozy, barn-style dining area with wooden walls and ceilings, large wooden tables and chairs, and portraits of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington hanging above.
Inside, the barn-style dining room is cozy and charming with wooden beams, checkerboard tables, and framed portraits of Abe & George watching over your ribs.
There’s also:
A kid-friendly play zone
A covered outdoor seating area
A spacious second dining room with picnic-style tables
But the biggest win? The people. Our order-taker didn’t just take our order—they complimented our tattoos, told us the history of the beer and joked with us like we’ve been friends for years (thank you James for making us laugh so much!) and thank you for making us feel so welcome. It’s rare. It mattered.
