We Smelled Tuna. We Showed Up.
Hi, it’s Callie, Seymour, Yebba, and Mama — the taste-testing team from Stray Cat News. We were napping peacefully (as one does) when we caught the faintest whiff of tuna. Within seconds, our newsroom turned into a full-scale feline investigation.
The results? A 3-ingredient homemade cat treat recipe so good it made Mama purr and drool simultaneously.
These treats are healthy, affordable, and take about 10 minutes to make — perfect for busy cat parents who love spoiling their furballs naturally.
Why Pumpkin + Tuna = Purrfection
Let’s break it down:
Pumpkin: Great for digestion and shiny coats. It’s a natural source of fiber that helps… well, you know. 💩
Tuna: Packed with protein and omega-3s for brain and heart health (and, more importantly, irresistible flavor).
Egg or Oat Flour: Helps the treats hold together and adds a little crunch — like a reward for your cat’s excellent behavior (or tolerating your Zoom calls).
Together, they make the ultimate blend of flavor, texture, and feline-approved nutrition.
3-Ingredient Pumpkin & Tuna Cat Treat Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup oat flour (or whole wheat flour if tolerated)
½ cup canned tuna (in water, drained)
1 tablespoon pumpkin purée
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C).
Combine tuna and pumpkin in a bowl, then slowly mix in the flour until a dough forms.
Roll the dough into small bite-sized balls or flatten with a fork.
Bake for 10–12 minutes or until firm.
Cool completely (patience is a virtue, hoomans).
🐾 Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days — or freeze for longer.
💡 Optional: Add a pinch of catnip powder for extra chaos.
Why We Love Homemade Treats
You control the ingredients (no fillers, dyes, or weird preservatives).
It’s cheaper than most store-bought treats.
We get to “help” in the kitchen by sitting directly in your mixing bowl.
Bonus? Baking together is bonding time. (And we will remember the effort when deciding who to sleep on tonight.)
