The Confession: We Lick Everything

West Lawn, PA: Hi, hoomans! It’s Callie, Seymour, Yebba & Mama — reporting live from the kitchen counter you just cleaned.
We need to talk. Because that “fresh lemon scent” you love? Yeah… it’s kinda killing our vibe (and could actually hurt us).

We cats walk through everything. We groom constantly. And whatever you clean with — it ends up on our paws, then in our mouths. 😬

So today we’re exposing what’s safe, what’s not, and what you can use instead to keep your home shiny and whisker-approved.

Cat-Safe Cleaning Products You Already Own

You don’t need a fancy “pet-safe” label or a cabinet full of mystery sprays.
Here are the hero products already in your home:

  • White Vinegar + Water — the ultimate natural disinfectant. Mix 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water in a spray bottle for counters, litter boxes, and floors.

  • Baking Soda — deodorizes carpets, litter boxes, and soft surfaces. Sprinkle, wait 15 minutes, vacuum. Done.

  • Unscented Castile Soap — gentle, biodegradable, and safe for wiping surfaces.

  • Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) — great for sanitizing hard, non-porous areas.

  • Steam + Microfiber — the unsung cleaning duo. No chemicals needed!

💡 Pro Tip: Always rinse surfaces after cleaning and let them dry before we cats walk on them.

What’s NOT Safe for Cats (aka Toxic Zone)

Promise us you’ll never use these around us again:

🚫 Bleach — strong fumes irritate lungs and paws.
🚫 Ammonia or Windex-type glass cleaners — can cause burns and respiratory issues.
🚫 Essential Oils (Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Citrus, Pine) — extremely toxic, even when diffused.
🚫 Lysol & Pine-Sol-style disinfectants — phenols in these formulas are harmful to cats.
🚫 Fabric softeners & scent boosters — residue lingers on bedding and cat blankets.

If the label says “keep away from pets”, take it seriously.

Why “Clean” Shouldn’t Mean “Chemical”

We love that you care about a clean home — truly.
But our bodies are tiny, and our systems can’t process chemicals like yours can.
When you swap harsh cleaners for cat-safe ones, you’re not just making your home healthier — you’re extending our nine lives.

The Rescue Rule: Clean Simply

✨ If you can’t pronounce it, don’t spray it.
✨ If it smells too strong, open the windows.
✨ If your cat sneezes, that cleaner’s not for us.

And hey — a little fur on the furniture? That’s called decor. 🐈
