BERKS COUNTY, PA — Basket Donations Now Open for Berks Community Cats Summer Auction

In Berks County, a quiet but impactful call is going out—one that doesn’t just ask for attention, but for participation.

Berks Community Cats is officially seeking basket donations for its upcoming Summer 2026 online auction, and if past years are any indication, this event has the potential to reach far beyond a typical fundraiser.

Because this isn’t just about baskets.

It’s about building something that reflects an entire community.

A Look Back: What These Auctions Become

From what we’ve seen, these auctions don’t follow a single theme—and that’s exactly the point.

Past baskets have included:

  • Cozy self-care bundles with candles, blankets, and bath items

  • Kitchen and cooking sets curated for everyday use

  • Locally sourced goods like jams, honey, and handmade pieces

  • Cat-themed baskets filled with toys, treats, and essentials

The intention is clear: create something for everyone.

And that variety is what drives engagement.

People don’t just browse—they find something that feels personal.

What They’re Asking For

At this stage, the focus is simple: donations.

Berks Community Cats is currently accepting:

  • Completed themed baskets

  • Individual items that can be combined into baskets

  • Gift cards

  • Items that appeal to a wide audience

The goal is to build out a diverse auction lineup that invites participation from as many people as possible.

Because the more variety there is…

the more people see themselves in it.

Beyond the Baskets

This auction directly supports the ongoing work happening behind the scenes every day:

  • Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts

  • Medical care for community cats

  • Feeding programs and colony support

  • Rescue and placement when possible

And if you’ve followed this work at all, you know—it adds up quickly.

Events like this aren’t just helpful.

They’re necessary.

What Happens Next

The auction itself is expected to take place July 19–29, hosted online through the Berks Community Cats Adoptables Facebook page.

Right now, the focus is on building the inventory that will make that event successful.

Donations are being accepted through July 14, with coordination available for drop-off or pickup.

More event details are expected to be released soon.

How to Contribute

If you’ve ever thought about putting together a basket, donating an item, or supporting local rescue work in a tangible way—this is one of the most direct ways to do it.

You don’t need to overthink it.

Start with something simple:

A theme
A few items
A small idea that turns into something someone else will value

The Part Worth Paying Attention To

We cover a lot of events like this.

But what stands out here isn’t just the fundraiser itself—it’s how accessible it is.

You don’t need a large donation.

You don’t need to be a business.

You just need to contribute something that someone else might want.

And when enough people do that…

it builds into something much bigger than any one basket.

Final Take

The Berks Community Cats Summer Auction hasn’t even opened yet—but the groundwork is already happening.

And right now, that groundwork depends on what the community chooses to put into it.

If you’ve been looking for a way to support local cats that goes beyond a like, a share, or a quick donation…

this is one of those moments.
