We padded into the newsroom with our usual priorities (snacks, naps, and judging the hooman’s typing skills), only to discover a message that made all our whiskers stand at attention.

A Hooman named Chad Rutt reached out after recognizing Piston, the gorgeous girl featured in our recent Craig’s Cat Café story.
His message wasn’t just a note — it was a doorway into one of the most heart-lifting adoption tales we’ve ever reported.

And you know us: when a story glows this brightly, we have to follow it.

The Moment Piston Chose Her Person

Chad told us he’d visited Craig’s Cat Café several times over six weeks — meeting cats, observing personalities, trying to find the right match. But on visit number five, something shifted.

He sat on the floor.
And Piston came to him.

Not nudged.
Not coaxed.
Just… chose him.

Another patron even whispered the sacred truth we cats live by:
“It looks like you were chosen.”

And yes — she was right.

That moment became the start of their forever.

The Magic of Craig’s Cat Café + Calla’s Rescue

Chad didn’t just find one cat that day — he found Piston and her companion Ben. He told us how Calla and Steve gently guided him through the process, made sure it was right for the cats, and even supported him long after the adoption.

When Ben was later diagnosed with FIP, Calla personally stepped in — medicating him for weeks, monitoring bloodwork, and restoring hope during one of the scariest experiences a pet parent can face.

We hear stories every day, but let us tell you… this level of devotion is rare, beautiful, and so deeply felt in communities like Spring City.

This is why we uplift rescues.
This is why we write these stories.
This is why rescue cats like us get the chance to live.

Life With Piston Now

At home, Piston is a sweetheart with a mischievous sparkle — waking Chad for breakfast, playing fetch, jumping impressively high, and yes… gently nibbling his toes.

She’s also fiercely loyal.
When Ben fell ill, she never left his side.
When Chad feels stressed, she curls in close.

That’s not “just a cat.”
That’s family.

And hearing Chad describe how his home feels now — full of joy, movement, purrs, companionship — well… it reminded us why rescue stories matter so much.

A Soft, Pawsitive Final Word

If you’ve never been to Craig’s Cat Café, consider this your nudge.
If you’ve wondered about adopting, let Piston’s story be your sign.
Sometimes the right cat doesn’t just enter your life —
they walk straight to you, curl up beside you, and say, “Here. I choose this.”

Support local rescues. Visit the cafés. Lift the hoomans who make this work possible.
It’s how more cats like Piston and Ben find their way home.

🐾 Coming tomorrow on Stray Cat News

As the temperatures drop and the windows turn into frosty TV screens, we’re curling our tails around a topic every indoor cat cares deeply about: winter enrichment.

Because let’s be honest — winter boredom is real.
The sun disappears at 4 PM, the birds migrate (rude), and the hoomans start rearranging blankets like they’re building insulation forts instead of giving us attention.

So tomorrow, we’re sharing a full guide on:

✨ Keeping your cat mentally sharp during the winter
✨ Easy indoor enrichment ideas (no craft skills required)
✨ Toys, puzzles, and low-cost hacks that actually work
✨ How to burn zoomie-energy when outdoor time isn’t an option
✨ Cozy routines that support mood, bonding, and winter wellness

It’s warm, practical, a little chaotic, and very us.

See you tomorrow for the full scoop — whiskers ready, paws poised, and enrichment boxes overflowing. 🐾
